Whenever I sell a car on I write the radio code on the V5 documentation in pencil - that way the next buyer can't argue they didn't receive it. If they then fail to take care of the information - then tough.
I don't see householders standing in a locksmiths blaming him they lost the keys to their front door.
I think police forces and insurers pushed the radio manufacturers into coding purely on the grounds that it wasn't the price of the radio that mattered but the cost of damage caused breaking into the car to get the radio.
Yeah but the stealers soon cottoned onto the fact that lots of people loose their radio code and started charging for it. They never used too !

If only everyone was as diligent as you Noel.
