Just out of interest, what sized wheels and tyres have you got on the car?.The 185/55 14's on Clio's do have a habit of tramlining and this can take a while to get used to.Our Mondeo does it and it can be rather disconcerting to start off with, especially as the steering appears to have a mind of it's own if there are low spots worn into the road.I think it's something modern cars tend to do with the advent of wider and lower profile tyres. You could be trying to compensate for it and grabbing the wheel harder so you feel in control.

I've got to be honest though,I am not a fan of steering wheel covers at all,I personally wouldn't feel safe using one.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
