I had the very same thing on my stop gap Honda....loads of the stuff, I left it as everything was working fine and the car started everytime.......if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude and seeing as I wasn't gonna keep the car I didn't really car.
However, Noels advice above is top drawer mate....follow that.
