I hassled the dealership about this. I refused to power cycle the electric in rapid succession as it will cause premature failure. Would you power your PC several times within a few seconds? I wouldn't.
They asked their Renault rep who agreed as he had the same problem. His recommendation was to lock the car manually but make sure you have the key on you. To do this you need to close the front doors, open a rear door, climb in the rear & reach forward & lock using the central locking button near the drivers rear view mirror. Close rear door on exit & car is locked but the alarm disabled.
Works for me - but I am 6'5 so I have a fair reach ;-)
