many thanks Dave, the full headlights work fine, its only the dipped that fail. The fuses seem ok. If it was the ballast unit, would I be correct in saying that if this was the fault, then the full headlights wouldnt work either?
No mate, the full (main beam) headlights, are of the normal halogen type and dont work off the ballast. Thats why they are very yellow in colour in comparison to the dipped (Xenon) beam.
You can get ballasts from other places than just Renault. One of the places in England is the following website.
The above are much cheaper than Renault. For instance I was quoted £320 for a ballast a year ago from Renault.
It might be worth giving them a ring and seeing if they will ship to you (where ever you are in the world)
