I think I'll try a clean out first and see if that cures it, it will also give me time to save up if that doesn't work, I think I saw a thread on the forum mentioning a Sony as a replacement, then I just need to figure out which adaptor I will need - unless you guys have any better suggestions - Thanks for the replies
Just one other thought ...
The main components that get hot are the power amplifier chips. These are quite large and usually bolted onto the metal side of the unit. This provides the heat sink for power generated during normal operation.
If these chips over heat they automatically reduce the volume to reduce the power.
It's worth checking the bolts on these chips to ensure they are really tight.
Did the problem suddenly start (after being fine?)
