i had same problem, i would leave work ok, get home stick dinner on go to pick the missus up and my clio (old gregg) wouldnt start.
turned out that the Ipod Adapter plugged into the lighter drains the battery/shorts the ignition, try taking that out, turn off the heater/lights and radio and start it.
if it persists get it serviced! you cannot beat a service, they may be £100 + but cheaper than a breakdown all the same
This is my first thread after finding your very helpful forum. I've searched for my problem and can't seem to find it anywhere, so I hope I'm not repeating anyone.
My 98 Clio 1.4RT has developed a ignition problem. At first, it began with the Clio not liking if you tried to start it by turning the key straight to start, it started to prefer a few seconds on ignition, then to start, and has been starting like that first time for months.
But now, if said Clio has been driven around for a few minutes (about 10minutes this morning), parked up, then you try to start it again it's hit and miss whether it starts again, which is getting quite annoying in petrol stations for instance.
Whereas if the car is left at my work for 8 hours, it starts first time.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to whats faulty ?
Thanks in advance
