Following on this thread and a similar one on having to pay pro-rata for a service to get the aircon tested ....
While not wanting to sound daft ... (treat me gently here) and wanting to provoke some discussion .... I realise that the refrigerant does not last for ever ... but why should your dealer be asking you to contribute for any gas while the car is under warranty?
If it was the case that climate/aircon systems required to be re-gased at 3 year intervals then why is it not listed in the recommended intervals in the Renault service book supplied with the car?
Where are the dealers getting the 3yr re-gas interval from ?surely its as required ... because I bet the second the warranty has expired then they will charge the full cost without pro-rata every time it is required.
My previous Espace only had one re-gas in 10 years (at year 6 if my memory is correct and at an aircon specialist) ... and it was working perfectly the day we sold it.
Is this not a case of rolling over rather than arguing .... especially at the hugely inflated prices that the dealer charges for refrigerant.
Just a thought
