I've had this problem with mine and even spoke to my Renault dealers technicians and they have tried everything on various customer and their own cars and they just change them.
I am going to change mine and then strip down the old ones and see if I can spot a solution, and keep them as emergency spares. But I believe it is the seals that go hard over time and cause the shafts to stick and because they are nylon rather than rubber you can't breath new life into them. Although I am going to spray a thin silicon layer on the shafts to try and make them last longer.
