Very useful advice!

Whilst in standing traffic last night, I decided to do a MOT handbrake test whereby I knocked the handbrake sideways to make sure the brakes weren't released when I did so. Oops: I must have knocked the toothed insert out!

Replaced it this afternoon.

However what a pig of a job: scratched my hands puling apart the electrical connectors, scratched the gear knob leather and trim, broke off some of the clips that hold the handbrake and gear lever gaiters down: then broke a tab on a connector: had to cable tie the two mating halves to ensure proper contact.

Usual Renault grief: designed for ease of manufucture rather than ease of maintenance.

Thank you once again for the advice: saved me some money again!
