They might not be the cheapest, but the Renault Harmony warranties are very comprehensive. They claim to provide as close as possible to the original manufacturer's cover, and on the couple of occasions that we had to claim on ours, they did the work FOC as you'd expect.
Better still, your 1400cc falls into the cheapest bracket. Extending to 5 years/60,000 miles cover (from new) will cost you 500 quid. You can extend that to 80,000 or 100,000 miles though it'll cost you an extra 200 for each step. There are other options, including 4 years/60,000 miles for 300 quid, but I'd be inclined to go for the full 5 years.
The warranty is also transferrable to another owner in a private sale, so might boost the value of your car a little if you come to sell before it expires. The only real pitfall is that it's not transferrable if you trade your car in to a dealer, and so you lose the remaining time if you take this particular route when upgrading your car.
