i had the same problem this morning, due to forgetting about the quantity of ice on the windscreen.
it could be that the wiper arm is loose on the motor's spline...
if its any consolation, i did the following remedy:
- open your bonnet for easier access / tool clearance.
- using a flat bladed screwdriver, force off - carefully - the small cap at the base of the affected wiper arm. easiest way to reach the passenger arm is stood alongside the drivers mirror.
- this should reveal a nut - ensuring your wipers are switched off (ie motor is in park) and that the arm is positioned correctly (ie, off) - tighten the nut using spanner / socket / adj.
replace parts AND CLOSE BONNET PRIOR TO TRYING!!!!
