if you have basic tools you can do it yourself. basically in the boot behind the plastic trim lies the earth connection. its an M6 bolt (i think) securing a cable to the body work. remove it and clean up the area and also the end of the cable really is about all that needs done. once you have good metal on metal contact it will hopefully have solved the prob.
if you can do that yourself, atleast its not going to cost anything to give it a try.
