Renault Scenic II centre display fading*Fixed*

Hi, my wife's 2002 Scenic's centre display console where it tells you about the radio station, clock etc and which normally glows bright orange is getting very faded. When she turns on her headlights it becomes even more faded and brightens up a bit when she turns them off again but not as bright as it usually is. Is this related to the car battery? If I was to replace the car battery do you think the display would glow bright orange again or do you think that the display itself is coming to the end of its natural life (the car's done around 65,000 miles)? If it is the later then it would not be worth the expense of replacing but I could stretch to a new battery! Thanks.
