It is not unusual for tyre pressures to drop in the cold. Cold water could well have the desired effect, or it may just be coincidence.
It is probably worth keeping an eye out tho as you may have a slow puncture. If you have it pays to get it sorted sooner rather than later. Water can get in to the tyre and start to "delaminate" it from the inside.
