towbar fitting advise
firstly I want to apologise if ive posted in the wrong place, couldnt really find anything more suitable.
anyway, im looking to DIY fit a towbar to my car.
first problem is i have had a look under the car and nothing stands out to me as oh thats what it must bolt on to. the kit doesnt require any cutting or drilling so i presume it bolts on to something that holds the bumper bar in place?
secondly, being an apprentice sparky i know a good bit about electrical systems. but i am thinking of just fitting a 7 way smart bypass relay just to keep the load off my cars lighting circuits. i know it might be over kill on my car as i think i can get away with just connecting the cables straight in but it wont do any harm i suppose? if not i will need to fit a buzzer or indicator light anyway, as its a legal requirement on a passenger vehicle?
I can buy a car specific wiring kit but im not paying £60 im afraid, if a bypass relay will do the same job with a little more work then £25 sounds better to me.
What rating of fuse is the bypass relay likely to require for the supply from the battery?
im guessing fitting a towbar is a fairly straight forward job?
