How did you measure the battery voltage. A static test with a voltmeter is useless. It needs to be load tested and the alternator output checked. Most decent battery suppliers will do both for free in the hope of gaining a sale.
A batteries ability to produce energy is measured in amp/hours and not just voltage.
Think of it this way! If you joined 8 AA batteries together you could get a 12 volt reading but in no way would they be capable of starting or running a car.
