Just been on a 25 mile run, car is now running perfect and just checked for the whining but it is still there so tend to agree that a battery disconnect would/might solve the problem but as madnoel10 says could cause further problems but I cant actually pinpoint the sound and all I can define it as a very faint humming like a small transformer, thats the best example I can give.
Yes Hammer-ter it is the 1.6
engine but as the car is running ok so I cant see it it being any of the parts that you mentioned but thanks for your info, also I dont have an alarm fitted just the immobiliser as standard fitting.
So if anybody has a Scenic can you check for this sound and the best way of doing it is to open the bonnet and then lock the car so everything is off and with the bonnet up it will act as sounding board but believe me it is a vey faint sound, thanks all for your input
