Sorry to hear your bad news but a turbo is a consumable at the end of the day - they all go at some point.

You should manage a quote a lot less than 1700 from a turbo specialist, hopefully 600 is not far of the mark. Ring around a few places. If its running with black smoke then the engine is fine - but don't run it!!! And check the oil level

If the engine goes following turbo failure its normally because its burnt all the oil and then seized from massive overheat / lack of oil . The fact yours is running suggests you didn't suffer a runaway - but don't run it or you might have one
