I do agree with you madnoel10 as last night I put the battery on charge but before I re-connected the battery I took Hammer-ter's advice of switching on the side lights and then connecting battery and this went very smoothly as I did not get all the errors when I replaced it last time, idled as it should, no warning lights and performed as it should, and most importantly no obscure sounds in the engine compartment
So over the next few days, hopefully the problem will be solved and of course I will let you know the outcome.
Thanks everyone for your info and suggestions all appreciated and anyone else who has to replace a battery I can fully recommend Hammer-ter's tip of switching on the side lights first!!!
