Yeh I mean the lights on the door. They are called puddle lights as the idea is to be able to see the puddle on the road before you step into it. I have also heard farmers refer to them as "dung dodger lights"

Again, I've learnt something from Noel I didnt know !
But then I always thought they were so that oncoming motorists could see that you had a door open at night and not drive into it.
Thinking about it more, calling the footwell lights as puddle lights is spot on, as most renaults seem to leak and end up with puddles of water in the front footwells.
