Just for your info, the little space in the windscreen which should show the VIN number is probably blank for the same reason as mine. The VIN number is printed on paper or maybe a very thin piece of card and over time I have watched mine gradually disappear down behind the dashboard. I have tried all sorts to get hold of it and pull back into place but cant get to grip it. I can just about about see the corner of the label at the moment.

My VS also has the original renault telephone system fitted but over time I have had more and ore people saying that the connection was not briliant. I fitted a parrott 3200 system about 18mth - 2yrs ago. Took 15mins to fit and works a treat. By the way the Mic for the phone is just behind the rear view mirror.

Can't help with your other problems and as for tyres I have only ever used the michelins.
