I'd check to see if the alternator is actually charging,both at the battery and on the back of the alternator and go from there.It should charge around 14 volts,if not then I would still suspect the alternator or the conenctions to it.Do you know if the alternator was new or a used unit?.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
