Or the windscreen has been replaced but the sensor has been damaged/not fitted correctly.
It should be an airtight seal between the sensor & the screen - no air bubbles.
That is why it is recommended and most reputable windscreen replacement companies fot new sensors when they replace the windscreens.
When we bought our Laguna ( nearly new) the previous owner/garage/windscreen replacement company replaced the windscreen with the wrong type - the black area didn't have a window and also wasn't big enough - so they had painted & stuck gaffer tape on the inside to make the black area big enough to cover up the wiring/sensor etc so you couldn't see it from the outside! Muppets.
The supplying garage were great about it though and had the correct windscreen fitted at no expense to ourselves!
