Oh bugger

I took the brakes apart this morning. The offside outer pad I said was OK (about 10mm including backing) but the inner was down to the metal.
The problem was that the piston was not returning probably because the rubber boot had got shredded. About 16mm of the piston was out of the body not including the head of the piston with the dimples in.

I took the caliper off the car and made a tool with some scrap steel and a couple of bolts and can just about mange to beat it round with a hammer - so I've ordered a new caliper.

While getting it apart, one of the covers for the pinch bolt pinged off somewhere. Are these available? Or shall I just make a plug with plasticine?

The other side was OK and everying worked as planned apart from the spring holding the caliper body over the outer pad snapped. It doesn't look too critical as long as it doesn't foul the wheel.
