Thanks for what is a very comprehensive reply and explanation, I cant wait to put the plan into practice; at the mo I cant even get the wiper blade plastic cap off. does it lever out or unscrew, I dont seem to be able to do either.
P.S. this is making me sound like a complete dork, I normally fix most things pretty quick, I think its the large peice of curved glass thats making me nervous
The plastic cap has a long narrow tongue that passes through the wiper arm and out of the bottom.
If you look carefully under the arm on the right hand side (next to the wiper shaft) you will see the end of it just poking down.
Just push it up with your finger and the cap will pop out
It threw me for a while; Renault designing a component that can be easily removed without destroying it!
P.S. you will get a replacement cap if you end up buying a new wiper arm.
P.P.S. Don't be put off by the glass, it's much stronger than it looks.
