The V6 is indeed a very fine engine,some very good points made here so far too.

Coils are a problem but they are now available aftermarket for around 40 each,if one on the front bank goes then it's a 5 minute job to replace one,the rear bank is a little more involved but not really too much of a nighmare on the Lag 2.If you have a rear coil go I would be tempted to replace all three coils on the rear bank and all the spark plugs at the same time,this will cut the chances of having to have the inlet manifold off again down.It's nothing getting too worried about though to be honest.

The cambelt is certaintly an expensive job to have done,many independants have the correct kit to replace them though so a few phone calls should bring a main dealer price of 900 down to around half that.

Renault autos haven't got a great recent history,although we don't seem to get many complaints from this particular car.It would definately put me off though.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
