Laguna II headlamp washer motor activation

I've had so many problems with my Laguna II Tourer Xenon headlamp washers

In the last month:

1) They kept jamming up to the extent that I had to give them a real hard whack to get them to go down again
I've now replaced them.

1) Someone stole the colour matched covers off my washers
I've now replaced them (just need to get them sprayed to match).

3) The headlamp washer pump rusted and seized up
I'm just installed another motor (doing it right now) and everything seems to be working(ish).

However I could have sworn that when the washer low level light came on, the headlamp washers would no longer activate to stop the motor getting damaged?

However mine will keep running even when the bottle is empty!

Is there a relay which could be stuck due to the last motor being seized and overheating?

...or am I just going mad
