Renault compact alarm

I managed to knock the left hand volumetric sensor off in my Megane II. I've bought a new set (one transmitter and one receiver) but I've no idea where the control box is. My Haynes manual makes excuses about the info not being available at time of writing so there are no diagrams of where the control unit is. To save myself the bother of removing half of the interior trim and dismantling the dashboard, I was just going to solder the new end onto the broken wire but I don't know if it's the transmitter or receiver that is broken. The new parts are labled at the plug end so if I can find the plug (as long as it is marked) I can test for continuity with the broken end to see which one I need to solder on.
Can anyone give me some pointers?
