My Son recently got a 2002 Clio 1.2 16V, a car we have known from new. I changed the cam belt for him and having checked the forum for known faults discovered that the black box
cover was loose and starting to chafe the cables. It had not gone through any insulation but I decided to remove the top cover and leave it off, and taped up the wires. I refitted the connector and all seemed well. However since then on two occasions the car has suffered the dreaded engine management light and all its associated behaviour, rough tickover, lack of power etc..
This has been quickly sorted by pushing down on the connector, but clearly this is unacceptible, and potentially dangerous.
It must just be a matter of poor electrical contact, but I am unsure how to deal with it permanently.
Has anyone managed to come up with a solid cure that has lasted.
Anyones experience would be greatly appreciated.
