Apparently you cannot push the pads back and push the brake fluid back into the master cylinder, there is a risk of the seals in the cylinder reversing.
You have to bleed the fluid off through the bleed nipple as you push the pistons back.
Not sure but I expect there is a special tool for the rear brakes as you normally have to push the pistons and rotate them at the same time (hand brake mechinism)
Buy your self a haynes manual, money well spent.
