I was goin g to suggest a problem with the alternator but it appears that the battery is charging ok from what you've said. Hopefully, someone a bit more savvi with car electrics will be along shortly to help.

As an after thought, could it be an earth strap that is not conected or has a dodgy connection? If not it may well be that it's a simple case of the battery being old and duff, may well be time for a new battery!
