Laguna 2 Telling Porkies?

This morning after starting the car and setting off to take my wife to work, the "Service" message came up on my display and the voice announced "Left Rear Brakelight faulty". Upon checking, the brakelight appeared to be working perfectly normally. I switched the engine off and on and the car once again told me about the alleged fault. I checked again when I returned home and the brak light still appeared to be fine. I have since been out in the car again and got no Service message or audible warning so I assume the car has decided that all is ok.

Could this be a warning that the bulb is about to go or was it likely to be a minor "wobbler" thrown by the computer?

Any comments would be welcome.
