Thanks Pat.w for all your help. I have tried that procedure although I am not sure if what I did was correct as the window can't be put up with the switch. Instead I diconnected the battery so that the window wound itself up on reconnection, then held the switch open for 5 seconds, then wound it right down and held that switch open for 5 seconds. Unfortunately, it didn't re-engage the regulator and the window close switch still does nothing so this means the window is stuck open.
If the window goes up and down (albeit with encouragement from disconnecting the battery) does this mean it could still be the regulator?
