I spoke tot he mechanic today about the condition of the head/valves.

He says there a re few bent ones but no major structural damage due to the valve stems being fairly thin in 16v engines.
I am pleased that he has sent the head to an engineering w'shop that I know well and is run by a close family friend,(of mine not his) who I trust with this sort of work. I have used this workshop with all the engines I have rebuilt bar the first one about 20 years ago so i know personally they do a great job and are reliable.
I hope to have the car back by this weekend all things going as planned, which would be nice
