I always thought it was due to people having to
slam train doors but even young people do it that
have never been near a train and any way they are
now mostly automatic, I used to have a VW that when
the doors were slammed the air pressure hurt your ears
and the doors only went on the first catch, but just
push it cosed with 1 finger and it shut perfectly with
a click, I still make a grab for the passenger door when
people get out to lessen the shock.
Must be something they are born with.
Mind you don't get your hand taken off by one of these ruffians one day!
My doors are much the same, it doesn't take much to close them and they are typical Renault-esque, not VW industrial strength.
It's a Safrane, not a Laguna.
