Not really (unless the area needing sanded is huge). D/A means double action - like an orbital sander (which is hand-held).

I have an air-driven one which has 2 sizes of head 50mm & 75mm, and uses discs from 80 - 1500 grit (i.e. very coarse - very smooth).

Once I've seen the pics, I'll be in a better position to help.
