Looks like you've done most of the investigation work youself !

It could possibly be a faulty alternator or maybe its wiring and or connections. I'd probably be inclined to check out the wiring to the alternator and its connector first as this is the cheaper option.

Its defo alternator related though mate by the sounds of it.
