So, I've now found out that the following conditions need to be met in order to reproduce the issue:
- Ignition must be on (Engine doesn't need to be running)
- Headlights or sidelights must be on
- Right hand indicators must be activated
(Hazard switch won't do it)
- Brake pedal must be stepped on
Once all four conditions are met, the issue occurs.
Agh....my 03 laguna has nearly the same problem except its the LH indicator,
have done the usual disconnect/connect the light cluster it cures it for a bit then comes back after i use the fob to lock it up.
That's odd… unless the wiring loom for the cluster only has three wires, and there's a chip in the cluster
which communicates with the
in order to control the lights (someting I find highly unlikely):
- Data (maybe bi-directional, in order to report faulty bulbs?)
Looks like you've found the problem Marty a poor connection at the rear light cluster.
A good clean up with some fine emery and a blast of switch cleaner may help.
This is a fairly common problem and not just on Renaults might I add
Electonics contact cleaner should work fine. If not, have the wiring looked at, in case it's dodgy.
I'll be looking at my right hand cluster once I have the opportunity to do so.
