fitting an alarm to a '53 clio

Sorry to post just to answer a specific question but if somebody could help me it will be a big help.

My mum's Renault Clio was broken into on her drive on friday night.

the car is a billabong edition and has remote central locking. No alarm was heard in the night and the recovery man told her it probably doesn't have one. Is this the case or could it be faulty?

If not is there an option to add one while still retaining the remote central locking key function?

I had a look on halfords then started thinking about this issue.

If I do need an aftermarket one any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
