I've owned and driven loads of cars like the rest of us and have never had a coil spring break on me. At last year's MOT one of the springs was reported as broken and was duly replaced. There was no obvious 'drop' on the affected corner and I just put it down to 'one of those things' until I was recently asked to sign a disclaimer about faulty front springs on 02 & 52 registered Lag 2's when I left my car at a long term car park - obviously a problem they have experienced with cars of that year.
Guess what was found when I had a tyre replaced recently? Yep the coil spring was broken on the other side. It definitely seems good practice to replace both
at the same time.
Is there likely to be any recompense from the maufacturers if this is a recognised problem? Has any one tried?
I used to be a big Lag 2 fan until I bought my second one. Like a lot of you I now say never again!
