you wrote that you have disconnected navi reader (not only GPS) so I assumed that you have disconnected black plug with lever.
navi reader is protected with fuse under ashtray.
is Eject botton underlighted? try to press eject button, if button is not underlighted at this time then probably fuse under ashtray can be burned.
If eject is underlighted for a moment (orange underlight) but red diode is not turning on then reader is damaged.
If diode is turning on when you press Eject but there is no screen on lcd then reader or lcd is damaged (in most of cases - the reader, lcd very rare case).
you can't replace lcd with another only for radio etc since radio data is sent to navi control module and then to reader (which shows it on screen).
of course you can mount small screen from version without navi and make wirings for it (to work) but it is quite a lot of work (and will not work with cabasse amplituner if you have such).
It is easier to replace the reader. I have many navi spare parts. Need to know what part number your reader has. (or software version).
