I usually go for the tried and trusted
28 day rule. Beyond that any pc/lappy/phone/satnav is either return to base (pc's) or gets repaired via our technical support helpline. It amazing how many customers ask for a replacement phone because they've dropped it! They don't even try to lie about it...they just expect it to be covered by the warranty!
I had an mp3 player come back (only a cheap £20 unit) and you could actually see moisture under the display screen. When I pointed out that it was not a manufacturing defect, the woman tried to tell me it was sweat and that all mp3 players should be sweat proof cos you exercise to music! She was serious! I smiled sweetly and encouraged her to sod off!
