In my experience Renault rear pads ain't the worst to fit.
Did you release the handbrake adjustment before you pressed the pistons back. Just hope you haven't done any internal damage.
THe sequence is to release the handbrake cable detach the cables from the caliper - rotate and press the pistons inwards. Fit the new pads ensuring the locating clips are in their correct place. Depress the brake pedal numerous times (16 opertains should be sufficient). Then re-adjust the handbrake to suit

The handbrake adjustment nut is under the lining of the central arm rest
