Upgrading Brakes on a '97 1.8 Laguna

I have to replace the rear cylinders on my Laguna as the bleeding nipples have sheared off and while I'm at it I'd love to upgrade my breaking system.

I want to put new (but better) disks and pads on the front and also do I need to upgrade the brake fluid? Currently Dot 4.

Any ideas on what disks to go for and also pads, fluids etc. Also is there any better rear shoes I could go for?

Any help is appreciated!
Currently in renofan's garage:
1997 Laguna 1.8 8v RT Sport. Black. V6 Leather Interior. Wood Trim on Dash. Monroe Gas "Reflex" Shocks. Sport Springs. Sparco Strut Brace. Team Dynamics Sword Alloys. 6 Disc CD Changer. Tow Bar. Crystal side repeaters. Currently 183,000 miles done. Airflow spoiler, new '00 model headlights, backlights and DRLs waiting to be fitted....
