I was mucking about a few days ago and managed to cause my dashboard to hang (dunno if you're having this problem).
Anyway, when that happened the other symptoms were exactly the same; locking works from interior button, fuses OK, no response from plip regardless of re-synch. plip batteries clearly OK. Engine starts fine.
If you can find the fuse for your dashboard/display (check your owners manual if you have one).
Pull the fuse out, give it a minute, put it back in.
On our car (espace) it is a good idea to put the sidelights on before putting the fuse back in, I don't know if this is the same for all Renaults. It stops you causing a spike of current to the dashboard and potentially frying it.
This got my locking and display unit going again, worth trying I reckon.
