If your Clio is a 1.6 16valve,then the engine
dipstick is hidden under the sliver alloy box on the front of the engine. It's a pretty ridiculous design, but you'll get used to these soon as Renault (and the French in general) are pretty good at making the simple much more difficult.
.Another one is the fact your auto box probably doesn't have a dipstick at all........you wouldn't believe the hassle thats involved in checking the level on some of the boxes....
Being a 1999 car,you shouldn't have to use the key fob to switch off the immobiliser, unless an aftermarket one has been fitted. The Clio 2's should be chip and aerial type immobilisers.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
