Well, there's always that possibility, but I'd be expecting to see bills for the parts needed for the service he'd have performed to support that.

The other likelihood is that whoever owned the car at that period just didn't want to pay for the work to be carried out at all.

It may even have had the mileage 'adjusted' - there's really no way to tell, and that's the problem.

Cars can and do go 'wrong' regardless of servicing, that's very true, but its also true that each successive owner cares less (and spends less) on the car (as a general rule of thumb) - and you'd be the fifth owner this car's had in 6 years. How well have the previous 4 looked after it, if they haven't maintained a service record?

At the end of the day, its really up to you what you decide, although I suspect your heart really wants 'this' car, and its the doubts in your head which prompted you to post this thread in the first place.
