Dealer has investigated problem with car for a few days, it's very difficult to identify exact cause and so understandably, very frustrating for the engineer!

They have tested an identical model Clio and so know this is a definite fault and a problem specific to our car.

They've been using listening devices etc to try and locate the problem but it only occurs under load eg accelerating and going up hill so it's difficult to repro in garage where someone could look around car while it's making the noise. They really need a rolling road.

They're now going to try swapping parts from the other identical-model car to try and eliminate the possibilities.

They are also in communication with Renault and will be getting one of their technicians to come and see it if they can't find the problem themselves.

Don't know how long it's going to take but hopefully in a week's time there should be some more progress to report!
