One of the simplest bits of preventative maintenance is to remove the wheel bolts - clean them up - give them a smear of anti-corrosive compound - refit and tighten to correct torque. Maybe some wet night on the motorway you'll be glad you did.
Also alloy wheels have a nasty habit of becoming jammed on their hubs. Again a clean up and a smear of the good old anti-seize stuff works wonders
Also investing in a long wheel brace is advised.
